Swimmers are getting ready for day 2 finals at the 2017 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Tonight, we’ll see swimmers compete for medals in the men’s 100 breast, women’s 100 fly, men’s 50 fly, and women’s 200 IM. We’ll also see semifinals of the men’s 100 back, women’s 100 breast, women’s 100 back, and men’s 200 free.
Several World Record holders will compete in their respective events tonight, including Great Britain’s Adam Peaty (100 breast), Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom (100 fly), Team USA’s Ryan Murphy (100 back), Lithuania’s Ruta Meilutyte (100 breast), and Hungary’s Katinka Hosszu (200 IM).
The second night of action from the pool at Budapest at the 2017 FINA World Championships featured lots of exciting action. Hungarian Katinka Hosszu delivered a gold medal for the home crowd with her third straight 200 IM World Title
China’s Asian record holder Xu Jiayu and the U.S.’s 2012 Olympic champ Matt Grevers were the two swimmers under 53 this morning. Russia’s Grigory Tarasevich came up third, followed by defending Olympic champion and world record holder Ryan Murphy of the U.S. and Cal in 53.26.
World record holder Katie Ledecky of the U.S. and Stanford put up 15:47.54 this morning for the 10th-fastest performance by an American in history.
